Through my Surrealism project, I delve into the grim realities of life during the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of a young girl. Drawing inspiration from photographer Gregory Crewdson, I aim to capture the essence of grief and mortality. Utilizing staged photography techniques, I focus on portraying loneliness and women's expressions, particularly through the lens of death. Flowers become symbolic motifs, each carrying its own meaning, from love and trust to solitude and protection. My project, themed around Truth and Lies, explores the contrast between authentic emotions and staged actions, reflecting on memories and future prospects. While Surrealism historically evokes a sense of magic and hope, my interpretation emphasizes loss and disillusionment, challenging conventional perceptions. By juxtaposing the fantastical with the harsh realities of life, I aim to provoke contemplation and evoke empathy in viewers.
